Why Ben Affleck chose a green diamond engagement ring for Jennifer Lopez

Green with envy over Jennifer Lopez’s blinding engagement ring from Ben Affleck? You’re not alone.

The “Argo” director proposed to the pop superstar for the second time Saturday, presenting her with an 8.5-carat green diamond.

And while the couple has a history with colorful gems — who could forget the 6.1-carat pink Harry Winston sparkler Lopez accepted from Affleck in 2002? — this new stone seems to be even more symbolic than the last.

“[Green is] my favorite color; it’s also my lucky color,” the “Marry Me” star, 52, told fans in a video shared via her “On the JLo” newsletter Tuesday.

“Obviously, it’ll be my lucky color forever now. It means so much when somebody thinks about you and loves you and sees you,” Lopez continued. “And it was just the most perfect moment.”

The ring weighs in at a whopping 8.5 carats.

“I always say the color green is my lucky color,” the triple threat wrote in a previous newsletter. “I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green.”

Indeed, her infamous plunging jungle-print Versace gown from the 2000 Grammys remains one of the most iconic red carpet looks of all time. And in 2003, Lopez attended the Oscars with Affleck in a mint-colored Valentino gown that would perfectly match her new ring.

“If that is indeed a green diamond, then I am stunned,” The Diamond Pro CEO Mike Fried told Page Six Style after news broke of the couple’s second engagement.

“A green diamond of that size is incredibly rare and would dwarf the value of their previous engagement ring. I would value the ring well over $5 million and could be worth more than $10 million.”

In her latest newsletter, Lopez also revealed that she was taking a bubble bath when her “beautiful love,” Affleck, got down on one knee.

Lopez strolled around NYC with Affleck in September 2021 — wearing green, naturally.

“I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again,” she wrote.

“It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could’ve ever imagined.”

That ring looks pretty fancy to us.
